We're pleased to offer the following services at the Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital:

Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability.  We go by appointment at Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital, but if you happen to stop by with your pet to be seen, and a veterinarian is available, we will do our best to accomodate you. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.  It is important to note that we are closed for appointments Monday through Friday between the hours of 12 noon and 2:00pm.  During this time we are rotating for lunch and caring for our in-hospital patients.  We may or may not have a veterinarian on the premises during those hours.  Please call first if you have an emergency.

Open Hospital

Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital operates an open hospital. This means that our team welcomes owners to be with their animals in the exam room during their appointment.

Emergency & Urgent Care

We have veterinarians and technical staff on duty who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such a snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call immediately. It is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.

We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. Please call for a "fit-in" appointment.  When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen. When it's close to closing time, make sure you call before coming in for an emergency.  We may not have staff here to treat your pet, and we may need to refer you to the nearest emergency hospital.

Boarding and Day Care

Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital has a limited boarding facility available to our clients.  We can board any of your pets (see list above).  We know your pets are your children – you feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel attendants do the same at Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital when you can't. We provide tender loving care (such as brushing and cuddling), and supervised outdoor time to keep them happy and active.  Is your pet unhappy or lonely while you're at work? Give your companion the personal attention he or she deserves throughout the day. We provide the same TLC offered to our longer-term guests as we do our day care guests.  Please call our reception team at 757-460-3308 for details regarding our boarding facility and policies.

Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital now offers limited bathing and grooming services for our clients.  We do not have a full service groomer on staff; however, we can bathe your pet and do some minor clipping and shaving.  Please call our front desk for more information.

Dental Care

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup.  Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.

We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. We examine and run blood panels on all patients prior to any anesthesia, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: board certified surgeon available for consultation; fully trained and licensed veterinary and technical staff to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques; ECG and oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery care.

Digital Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems.

Fully Stocked Pharmacy

Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital stocks a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field.  You can get everything you need for your pet's health right here after your appointment.  We also carry a wide variety of prescription foods made by Purina, Hill's and Royal Canin.

Hospice/Euthanasia Services

Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client, coming to your home for an in-home euthanasia (for established patients only) if that is what you desire, and providing resources for cremation services.

Immunizations and Wellness Services

We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. Our wellness programs are designed to include a comprehensive physical exam, immunizations, fecal, heartworm (for dogs), and FIV and Leukemia testing (for cats).  We also include recommendations for flea and heartworm prevention, spaying and neutering your pets, and blood testing for the certain life stages of your pet.

Internal Medicine

We can address all levels of internal medicine issues to include:  Cardiology, Opthalmology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Oncology, Dermatology, and Orthopedic concerns.  If your pet should require services beyond the resources at Virginia Beach Veterinary Hospital, we will refer you to a specialist in the area.

Pain Management

Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care.
